Psittacus Parrot Food
We are proud to bring into the Maltese market the Psittacus parrot food range produced by Psittacus Catalonia, a Spanish specialist parrot breeding and research centre. For over 20 years, this research centre have worked on perfecting a complete feeds that contain all the necessary nutrients, vitamins and minerals needed to develop a healthy and normal life from the first moments of life to adulthood.
Benefits
Psittacus created their products bearing in mind that a parrot can live many years and food must always be of the highest quality. The complete pelleted feed contains cereals, pulses, oilseeds, palm oil, soya, sunflower and linseed, dried fruit, dried flowers, sugar, dried egg, minerals, and vitamins. Product-improving additives include yucca extract and prebiotic (inulin), which aid complete digestion. The proven results of these diets include:

Egg Food
This product is intended for small parrot species of the genera Nymphicus (cockatiel), Eolophus (galahs/rose breasted), Aratinga (conures), Platycercus (Austrailian Parakeets), Melopsittacus (budgies), Agapornis (lovebirds), Neophema (Australian Parrots), etc. It is formulated to supplement the diet of reproductive birds at the chick-rearing stage.
Micro
Formula indicated for small species such as nymphs (females in breeding stage), breeding parrots, Australian parakeets (ringnecks, moustached, budgies, etc.)
Maintenance feeds are those indicated to be supplied to pets and breeders in the stages of reproductive inactivity. Its composition allows them to comfortably cover the nutritional needs of these periods.
Mini
This product is intended for small-sized species of the genera Nymphicus (cockatiel), Eolophus (Galahs, Rosebreasted), Aratinga (Conures), Platycercus (Rosellas), etc. (basically Australian birds). This Maintenance parrot food is formulated to feed pet birds and reproductive birds during non-reproductive periods. Their composition meets the nutritional requirements of birds at these times.
Minor
Formula indicated for small and medium sized species such as lovebirds, kakarikis, small and medium parrots.
Omega
This product may be provided exclusively for several psittacine birds of medium and large-sized species. It can be provided ad libitum for the genera Ara (Macaws), Psittacus (African Greys) and Poicephalus (Africans such as Senegals, Meyers, Red Bellies, Capes, Jardines, etc.). This extruded food has a highest appealing taste and nutritional value. Especially recommended for stages when the parrots have greater nutritional needs. In addition, this have been formulated carefully balancing the fatty acids and Omega 6 and Omega 3 inputs.
Parrot Maintenance
This product is a versatile formula for several medium and large-sized psittacine species of the genera Amazona (Amazons), Psittacus (African Parrots, such as Greys & Timnehs), Cacatua (Cockatoos), Ara (Macaws), Psittacula (Australian Parakeets such s Ringnecks), etc. This Maintenance parrot food is formulated to feed pet birds and breeding birds during non-reproductive periods. Their composition meets the nutritional requirements of birds at these times. Not suitable for cockatiels and other small-sized Psittacines.
High Energy
This product is intended for species that in wild consume a significant amount of seeds from oil-rich plants (Psittacus (Greys), Ara (Macaws), Poicephalus (Africans such as Senegals, Meyers, Red Bellies, Capes, Jardines, etc.). Maintenance foods are formulated to feed pet birds and reproductive birds during non-reproductive periods. Their composition meets the nutritional requirements of birds at these times
High Protein
This product is intended for species that in wild consume a great amount of fruits and seeds with low-moderate fat content (Amazona (Amazons), Cacatua (cockatoos), Psittacula (australian parakeets), etc.). Maintenance foods are formulated to feed pet birds and reproductive birds during non-reproductive periods. Their composition meets the nutritional requirements of birds at these times.
Lory Diet
For all parrots of the subfamily Loriinae (lories and lorikeets). It is a complete food, very rich in sugars. Contains dried apple and whole egg. When there are chicks to feed in the nest, it is recommended that the birds also have at their disposal the Frugivorous Neonatal or Lory Special (according to their age).
Lory Gel
This product is a complete food intended for adult parrots of the subfamily Loriinae (lories and lorikeets). It contains highly digestible ingredients, specific to the Loriinae diet to achieve the maximum quality and palatability. We recommend providing Lory Gel and Lory Nectar simultaneously. In conjunction, both products are able to cover properly the particular nutritional needs of different lory species in every moment, regulating themselves the ingest of each product.
Lory Nectar
This product is a complementary product intended for adult parrots of the subfamily Loriinae (lories and lorikeets). It contains highly digestible ingredients with a high proportion of dried fruit and sugars, particularly suitable for Loriinae diet to achieve the maximum quality and palatability. We recommend providing Lory Nectar and Lory Gel simultaneously. In conjunction, both products are able to cover properly the particular nutritional needs of different lory species in every moment, regulating themselves the ingest of each product.
Mini Hand Feeding
This product is intended for hand-rearing small-sized seed-eating psittacine chicks of the genera Nymphicus (cockatiel), Eolophus (galah/rosebreasted), Aratinga (conure), Platycercus (Australian Parakeets, such as Ringnecks, Rosella), etc.
High Energy Hand Feeding
This product is intended for hand-rearing parrot species which require high fat diets (Psittacus (Greys), Ara (Macaws), Poicephalus (Africans such as Senegals, Meyers, Red Bellies, Capes, Jardines, etc.). from the moment that the feathers begin to emerge. It contains the most suitable vegetable fat for these species: crude palm oil. It also contains papaya, which promotes digestive transit.
High Protein Hand Feeding
This product is intended for hand-rearing parrot species which require low-fat diets (Amazona (amazons), Cacatua (cockatoos), Psittacula (Australian birds, such as parakeets, ringnecks, budgies, etc.) from the moment that the feathers begin to emerge. It contains high oleic oil, stable and suitable to their needs. It also contains papaya, which promotes digestive transit.
