Description

💧 Watering
Keep the soil consistently moist but ensure the pot has excellent drainage to prevent soggy roots. During the dry Maltese summer, it may require watering every few days, especially if kept in a terracotta pot.

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light which keeps the white variegation sharp and the growth compact. It can tolerate some morning sun, but the intense Maltese afternoon heat will quickly wilt its soft foliage.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
A fast-growing, trailing plant with fuzzy, heart-shaped leaves that can quickly create a lush “curtain” effect. Regular pinching of the tips will encourage it to branch out and stay bushy rather than becoming leggy.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a lightweight, well-draining potting soil enriched with a bit of compost or peat-free alternative. Adding perlite is helpful to maintain aeration, which is vital during our more humid autumn weeks.

🌿 Fertilizer
Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer every two weeks during the active growing season from spring through autumn. Since it grows quickly in the Maltese heat, consistent nutrients will keep the foliage vibrant and dense.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making it a “worry-free” choice for pet-filled homes. However, the essential oils in the leaves can occasionally cause mild tummy upset if ingested in large quantities.

🌬️ Air Purifying
While not the heaviest hitter for toxin removal, its rapid growth helps refresh indoor oxygen levels. The subtle scent it emits is also known to act as a natural, mild deterrent for some flying insects.
