Description

Nazario F1 Green Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) is a vigorous Italian hybrid variety prized for its large, compact, emerald-green heads and excellent cold tolerance. This productive variety develops heavy, rounded heads surrounded by strong, upright green leaves, making it an excellent choice for home vegetable gardens.

With its tender texture and mild, slightly sweet flavour, Nazario Green Cauliflower is perfect for steaming, roasting, soups, pasta dishes and traditional Mediterranean recipes. Its ability to perform well in cooler conditions makes it particularly suitable for Malta’s autumn and winter growing season.

🌱 Growing Instructions

☀️ Sunlight: Prefers full sun, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

💧 Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Regular watering is essential for developing firm, healthy heads.

🌱 Soil: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil enriched with compost or organic matter.

🌡️ Temperature: Grows best between 15°C–18°C. This variety offers excellent tolerance to cooler winter temperatures.

📏 Spacing: Allow approximately 60–80 cm between plants for healthy growth and proper head development.

🌾 Fertilizer: Apply a balanced vegetable fertilizer every 2–3 weeks during active growth, following product instructions.

✂️ Harvesting: Harvest when the emerald-green head is firm, compact and fully developed, before the florets begin to separate. Typically ready approximately 125–140 days after transplanting.

🌿 Local Growing Tips (Malta)

Best planting season: September to November, allowing heads to develop during Malta’s cooler winter months.

Position: Sunny vegetable gardens or raised beds with fertile soil, good drainage and plenty of growing space.

Companion plants: Lettuce, onions, celery and aromatic herbs.

Common issue: Cabbage caterpillars and aphids may damage the leaves. Inspect plants regularly and use protective insect netting when necessary. Excessive heat can also affect head development.
