💧 Watering
Extremely drought-tolerant; only water when the soil has completely dried out from top to bottom. In the humid Maltese winter, you may only need to water once a month to avoid rotting its thick, water-storing rhizomes.

☀️ Light
Highly adaptable, it survives in low-light corners but stays darkest and glossiest in bright, indirect light. Keep it away from direct Maltese midday sun, as the dark leaves can absorb too much heat and scorch.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Features thick, waxy leaflets on upright stems that can reach a stately height over time. It is a slow-growing architectural plant that adds a dramatic, modern contrast to traditional limestone walls.

🪴 Potting Mix
Requires an extremely well-draining substrate, such as a mix of potting soil with plenty of perlite, sand, or volcanic rock. This is crucial in Malta to ensure the roots stay dry during our more humid weeks.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed very sparingly with a balanced liquid fertilizer only two or three times a year during the warm season. Avoid over-feeding, as this plant is a slow burner and doesn’t require much fuel to stay healthy.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety
All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested by cats or dogs, causing oral irritation and digestive upset. Keep it on a high plant stand or a sturdy shelf well out of reach of curious pets.

🌬️ Air Purifying
A champion at removing toxins like xylene, toluene, and benzene from the indoor environment. It is particularly valued for its ability to produce oxygen and clean the air even in poorly ventilated rooms.
