Description

Flowering: June; whitish and sometimes pinkish flowers.

Part used: bulbs or “heads”.

Aroma: pungent and intense.

Use: used as a condiment in numerous dishes from sauces, to soups, vegetables, roasts, etc. Recommended in combination with dishes rich in fats as, by stimulating the secretion of gastric juices, it facilitates digestion.

Properties: effective against arthritis, rheumatism, catarrh, intestinal worms, fevers; it is a natural antiseptic that can prevent infectious diseases. Rich in vitamins and other substances with antioxidant action. Not recommended for those who suffer from low blood pressure and digestive system irritation.

Harvest : dig up the bulbs when the plant has completely dry leaves, that is, from April (Southern Italy) to June-July (Northern Italy), letting them dry in the sun for a week. They will then be stored hanging in braids or in bunches in dark, dry and airy places.
