ECO hybrid green cauliflower – Rich in mineral salts and antioxidants with anticancer properties

Out of stock

Description

Cauliflower Hybrid of the “macerated” type, very uniform, greyish-green leaves, not very blistering. It produces a medium to large, compact, green colored head with medium reliefs. The harvest of green cauliflower is obtained after 100-110 days from the transplant. In the kitchen the most used recipes are: cauliflower au gratin, cauliflower fried in batter, cauliflower meatballs, orecchiette cauliflower and bacon or simply boiled and seasoned with oil and salt. Typical Sicilian recipes were also prepared such as “bastaddi affucati” (drowned cauliflowers) or cauliflower focaccia.

Nutritional information: Rich in calcium and potassium mineral salts, fiber, antioxidants and Vitamin B2 capable of stimulating the production of red blood cells in the blood, therefore an excellent remedy for those with anemia problems. In addition, cauliflowers are low-calorie and gluten-free, in fact they are widely used in low-calorie diets.

The Soil : the best productions are made on medium-textured soils; these plants have medium resistance to salinity and prefer pH around 6.5-6.8.

Basic Fertilization : Organic fertilization must be applied well in advance of the transplant and preferably to the previous crop. Before implantation, phosphorus and potassium can be administered.

Climatic Requirements : they prefer areas with a cool and humid climate with no frost. The optimal growth temperature is 15-18 ° C and the minimum growth temperature 9-10 ° C (5 ° C for broccoli). Late varieties (longer cycle) need a prolonged cold period (up to 25-50 days) to form the edible part. Sudden changes, high temperatures and hot winds bring the plant to pre-flowering.

The Transplant : from August to January, to be carried out in the coolest hours of the day. Wet the clod well before planting it on the ground and lightly irrigate the soil to facilitate rooting. Plant only the cube avoiding the burial of the collar. The transplant can be done in the open field from May to February.

The Distance : 50-80 cm on the row, ie between one plant and another; 60-100 cm between the rows for transit. The late varieties are generally more vigorous than the early ones and therefore, for the former, the greater distances must be chosen. The more the plants are tightened, the more the corymbs obtained will be small and poor.

Cultural Care : constantly eliminate spontaneous herbs (by hand or with a weeder) near the cultivated plants as they compete with these for resources and are sources of inoculation of numerous diseases.

Irrigation : for better management and water saving, we recommend the drip system with a perforated hose that avoids wetting the vegetation, reducing phytosanitary problems. This group of plants requires good soil moisture throughout the cultural cycle and therefore normally requires various irrigations.
