Description

SunPatiens® are vigorous, long-flowering impatiens bred to thrive in both full sun and partial shade. Their vibrant blooms and robust growth make them an excellent choice for Malta’s climate, adding continuous colour to gardens, balconies, and containers from spring until autumn.

💧 Watering

Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during Malta’s hot summer months. Water deeply when the top 2–3cm of soil feels dry, and avoid allowing the plant to wilt frequently. Ensure excess water drains away to prevent root rot.

☀️ Light

SunPatiens perform well in full sun to partial shade. In Malta, they flourish with morning sun and light afternoon shade, although established plants can tolerate full sun if kept well-watered.

🍃 Foliage / Growth

This fast-growing, bushy plant produces lush green foliage and an abundance of large flowers in a wide range of colours from spring until the first cool weather. Remove faded blooms if desired, although the plant is largely self-cleaning and requires very little maintenance.

🪴 Potting Mix

Use a fertile, well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. Containers should have good drainage to keep the roots healthy.

🌿 Fertilizer

Feed every 2–4 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer or one formulated for flowering plants to encourage continuous blooming.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety

SunPatiens are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making them a suitable choice for pet-friendly gardens and patios.

🌬️ Air Purifying

SunPatiens are primarily grown for their colourful, long-lasting flowers rather than their air-purifying qualities. Their vibrant blooms also attract bees and butterflies, helping to support a healthy garden environment.
