Description

💧 Watering
Water when the top 3–5cm of the potting mix feels dry, allowing excess water to drain away completely. During Malta’s warmer months, check the soil more frequently, but avoid keeping it constantly wet. Reduce watering during winter when growth slows.

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light, which helps maintain its attractive silver variegation. It can tolerate medium light but may grow more slowly and develop less pronounced markings. Avoid Malta’s intense direct summer sun, which can scorch the foliage.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
This moderate-growing tropical plant develops attractive heart-shaped leaves with irregular silver splashes. Its stems naturally trail beautifully from shelves and hanging pots or can be trained upwards on a moss pole or trellis. Pruning long stems encourages a fuller, bushier appearance.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a light, airy, well-draining indoor potting mix. A combination of quality houseplant compost, perlite, and orchid bark provides good drainage and airflow while retaining enough moisture for healthy growth.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Reduce or stop feeding during autumn and winter when growth naturally slows.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Scindapsus is toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. It contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals that can cause irritation of the mouth, excessive drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing. Keep the plant out of reach of pets.

🌬️ Air Purifying
Scindapsus contributes to a pleasant indoor environment through its abundant foliage and natural transpiration. Although plants can absorb some airborne compounds under controlled conditions, it is best valued for its decorative foliage rather than relied upon as a substitute for proper ventilation or air filtration.
