💧 Watering
Allow the top half of the soil to dry out completely before watering, as it is highly sensitive to overwatering. During the humid Maltese winter, reduce watering significantly, as the plant prefers to stay on the drier side to protect its roots.

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light which encourages dense, lush growth and maintains its rich color. Avoid the intense Maltese midday sun, though a little soft morning sun can help the plant stay vigorous and avoid becoming “leggy.”

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Features slender, sword-shaped leaves that spiral around the stems, creating a beautiful architectural texture. It is a slow grower that eventually develops a woody, branching trunk, making it a perfect long-term statement piece.

🪴 Potting Mix
Requires a very well-draining, airy mix—ideally a blend of potting soil, perlite, and a little orchid bark. This ensures the roots stay healthy and aerated, which is crucial during Malta’s high-humidity periods.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during the spring and summer. Like all Dracaena relatives, it can be sensitive to the minerals in Maltese tap water, so using filtered water or rainwater is highly recommended.

❌🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Contains saponins which are toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or swallowed, potentially causing digestive upset. It is best placed on a plant stand or in a corner where it remains out of reach of curious pets.

🌬️ Air Purifying
An excellent choice for improving indoor air quality, effectively filtering out common household toxins like formaldehyde and benzene. It is particularly useful in air-conditioned spaces for keeping the atmosphere fresh and clean.
