Description

☀️ Light
Medium to bright, indirect light. Never put it in direct sun, or the beautiful patterns on the leaves will wash out or burn. A spot a few feet away from a bright window is perfect.

💧 Watering
Keep it “barely moist.” Marantas are picky; they don’t like to be soggy, but they hate being bone-dry.
They are sensitive to the chlorine and lime in Maltese tap water. Use rainwater or filtered water to prevent the leaf edges from turning brown.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Low-growing and spreading. The leaves are spectacular, featuring red veins and lime-green splotches. Because it stays low, it looks great in hanging baskets or on a shelf where it can “crawl.”

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a well-draining, peat-based mix. A standard indoor soil mixed with a bit of perlite works well to keep the roots airy.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid indoor fertilizer at half-strength every 2 weeks from spring through autumn.

✔🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Safe! Prayer Plants are non-toxic to cats and dogs, making them a perfect “guilt-free” indoor plant.
However, be advised that the consumption of any plant material may cause vomiting and gastrointestinal upset for dogs and cats. Sherries will not be held accountable to any symptom. If you believe that your animal is ill or may have ingested a poisonous substance, please contact a vet immediately.

💡 Simple Tip: “The Humidity Trick”
Since Maltese homes can get dry with AC or heaters, your Maranta might get crispy brown edges. Place the pot on a tray filled with pebbles and a little water. As the water evaporates, it creates a mini-tropical climate just for the plant.
