Care Guide

☀️ Light:
Prefers very bright light and can tolerate several hours of direct sun. Gradually acclimatise plants to strong sunlight to prevent scorching.

💧 Watering:
Allow the compost to dry thoroughly between waterings. Water more sparingly during the cooler months when growth slows, and never leave the roots sitting in water.

🌱 Soil:
Use a very free-draining cactus and succulent compost with added mineral grit or pumice to ensure excellent drainage.

🌡 Temperature:
Prefers warm conditions and should be protected from frost. For container-grown plants, keeping temperatures above approximately 10°C is recommended.

Flowering

Mature plants may produce small yellow-green flowers (cyathia) along the upper portions of the stems. The flowers are relatively inconspicuous, with this species primarily grown for its impressive architectural shape.

🐾 Pet Safety – Keep Out of Reach of Pets

Like other Euphorbia species, Euphorbia triangularis produces a milky latex sap that is toxic and highly irritating. Contact may irritate the skin and eyes, while ingestion can cause gastrointestinal problems in people and pets. The plant also has sharp spines, so it should be positioned away from children and animals.

Good to Know

Despite its cactus-like appearance, Euphorbia triangularis is not a cactus. Its three-sided succulent stems are an adaptation for storing water in dry environments, while the small leaves it produces during active growth may be shed when conditions become particularly hot or dry.

Always wear gloves when pruning, repotting or handling damaged stems, and avoid contact with the milky sap. Wash hands and tools thoroughly after handling.

Please Note: As a living plant, each specimen is unique. Height, branching, stem thickness and overall shape may vary depending on age and growing conditions. Natural variation is part of the character of this architectural succulent.
