💧 Watering
Allow the top 50–75% of the soil to dry out completely before watering, as the thick canes store significant moisture. In the humid Maltese winter, you may only need to water once every 3 to 4 weeks to avoid root rot.

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light which keeps the central yellow stripe vivid and bold. While it can tolerate lower light levels in traditional Maltese townhouses, avoid direct midday sun which will scorch the leaves.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Features long, strap-like leaves with a signature yellow-green band running down the center. It is a slow grower that primarily gains height, making it an excellent long-term floor plant that won’t take up too much floor space.

🪴 Potting Mix
Requires a loose, well-draining potting soil enriched with perlite or volcanic rock. Good drainage is essential in Malta to prevent moisture from trapping around the roots during our high-humidity months.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during the spring and summer. Like all Dracaenas, it is sensitive to fluoride in Maltese tap water; using rainwater or filtered water will prevent brown leaf tips.

❌🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Contains saponins which are toxic to cats and dogs if ingested, potentially causing vomiting or dilated pupils. It is best placed in a stable, heavy pot on the floor where pets are less likely to nibble.

🌬️ Air Purifying
A powerhouse for indoor air quality, famously featured in NASA’s clean air study for its ability to remove formaldehyde. It is highly effective at refreshing the air in closed, air-conditioned rooms during the hot Maltese summer.
