💧 Watering
Water once to twice a week in warm Maltese months, keeping soil consistently moist but not soggy.
In winter, reduce to every 10–14 days.
Crotons dislike drought. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
☀️ Sunlight
Needs bright light to full sun for best colour.
In Malta, ideal for very bright indoor spaces, balconies, and patios with some protection from harsh midday sun.
Low light causes loss of leaf colour.
🍃 Foliage / Growth
Upright evergreen shrub with large, leathery, highly colourful leaves.
Can reach 1–1.5 m in pots (taller in the ground).
Grown purely for its dramatic foliage; flowers are insignificant.
🪴 Potting Mix
Use a rich but well-draining mix: indoor potting soil + compost + perlite.
Good drainage is essential to prevent root problems.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed every 2–4 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer.
Stop feeding in winter.

Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested; sap can also irritate skin.
Keep out of reach of pets and children.
