Description

Chlorophytum comosum, commonly known as Spider Plant, is an easy-care houseplant with long, arching green or variegated leaves. Its graceful, trailing growth makes it ideal for shelves, hanging baskets, and indoor displays.

💧 Watering

Water when the top 2–3cm of soil feels dry. Avoid waterlogging and reduce watering during winter.

☀️ Light

Prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates medium light. Protect from Malta’s strong direct summer sun.

🍃 Foliage / Growth

Produces long, narrow leaves and trailing stems with small white flowers and baby plants. These plantlets can easily be propagated.

🪴 Potting Mix

Use a well-draining houseplant mix with added perlite. Ensure the pot has drainage holes.

🌿 Fertilizer

Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer. Reduce feeding in winter.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety

Non-toxic to cats and dogs. A good choice for pet-friendly homes, although excessive chewing may cause mild digestive upset.

🌬️ Air Purifying

Spider Plants have demonstrated pollutant removal in laboratory studies, but their effect in normal homes is limited. They are best valued for their attractive foliage and easy-care nature.
