Aloe dichotoma, now scientifically reclassified as Aloidendron dichotomum, is a striking tree-like succulent native to the arid regions of Namibia and South Africa. Commonly known as the Quiver Tree (or Kokerboom), it is famous for its architectural “forked” branching pattern and its historically significant role in local cultures.

Description

Growing a Quiver Tree outside its native habitat can be challenging, but it is popular in xeriscaping and as a dramatic container specimen.

Light: Requires full sun to maintain its compact shape and healthy leaf colour.

Water: Extremely drought-tolerant. In summer, it can handle weekly watering; in winter, watering should be reduced to once a month or stopped entirely to prevent rot.

Soil: Needs perfectly draining sandy or rocky mineral soil. It performs poorly in heavy clay or water-retentive soils.
