Description

💧 Watering
Allow the top half of the soil to dry out before watering, as it is sensitive to overwatering. In the humid Maltese winter, you may only need to water once every two to three weeks to keep the roots healthy.

☀️ Light
Exceptionally adaptable; it thrives in low to medium light but maintains its silver sheen best in bright, indirect light. Keep it away from the direct Maltese sun, as the wide leaves will scorch and turn yellow quickly.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Features large, lance-shaped leaves with a heavy silver center and dark green margins. It is a slow-to-moderate grower that maintains a lush, bushy habit, rarely requiring pruning to look its best.

🪴 Potting Mix
Requires a well-aerated, peaty potting mix with a generous amount of perlite or orchid bark. This ensures the roots don’t sit in stagnant water, which is vital during our high-humidity autumn and winter months.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during the spring and summer. It is a light feeder, so avoid over-fertilizing, which can lead to salt buildup from our local hard water.

❌🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Contains calcium oxalate crystals, which are toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or swallowed. It is best placed on a table or shelf where pets cannot reach the tempting, broad leaves.
