Description

💧 Watering

Water deeply but infrequently; allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
In summer, water every 7–10 days depending on heat.
In winter (dormant period), water sparingly once every 3–4 weeks.
Avoid water sitting around the roots; root rot is common.

☀️ Sunlight

Loves full sun, give at least 6 hours daily.
Perfect for bright balconies or terraces in Malta.
Protect from strong cold winds in winter.

🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering

Semi-deciduous succulent shrub with a thick, swollen trunk (caudex).
Produces clusters of vibrant pink, red, or white trumpet-shaped flowers from spring through autumn.

🪴 Potting Mix

Very well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
Add sand or perlite to improve drainage.
Prefers slightly acidic to neutral soil.

🌿 Fertilizer

Use a balanced or bloom-boosting fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring–summer.
Stop feeding during dormancy in winter.

Toxic to cats and dogs (and humans) if ingested as sap contains cardiac glycosides.
Handle with care; wear gloves when pruning.
