Round White Onion (Allium cepa), known in Italian as Cipolla Bianca Tonda, is a popular vegetable variety prized for its attractive rounded bulbs, smooth white skin and crisp, juicy flesh. With its mild, slightly sweet flavour, this onion is a versatile addition to home vegetable gardens.

🌱 Growing Instructions
☀️ Sunlight: Prefers full sun, with at least 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.
💧 Watering: Water regularly during active growth, keeping soil lightly moist but not waterlogged. Reduce watering as bulbs mature and foliage begins to yellow.
🌱 Soil: Plant in loose, fertile, well-draining soil enriched with mature compost. Avoid heavy, waterlogged conditions.
🌡️ Temperature: Grows best in mild conditions between 13°C–24°C. Tolerates Malta’s mild winter temperatures well.
📏 Spacing: Allow approximately 10–15 cm between plants and 25–30 cm between rows for healthy bulb development.
🌾 Fertilizer: Apply a balanced vegetable fertilizer during early growth, following product instructions. Avoid excessive nitrogen once bulbs begin forming.
✂️ Harvesting: Harvest when bulbs are fully developed and the foliage begins to yellow and fall over. Maturity varies depending on the cultivar, planting date and growing conditions.
