Description

Araucaria heterophylla, also known as Norfolk Island Pine, is an elegant evergreen conifer admired for its soft, feathery foliage and beautifully symmetrical branches. Its attractive, Christmas tree-like appearance makes it a popular choice for indoor decoration, patios and ornamental gardens.

💧 Watering

Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry. Keep the soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Reduce watering during winter.

☀️ Light

Prefers bright, indirect light or gentle morning sun. In Malta, protect potted plants from intense summer afternoon sun.

🍃 Foliage / Growth

Produces soft, needle-like green foliage arranged in symmetrical, horizontal layers. Grows slowly indoors but can develop into a large tree when planted outdoors in suitable conditions.

🪴 Potting Mix

Prefers fertile, well-draining soil with a slightly acidic pH. Use a quality potting mix with added perlite to improve drainage.

Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during winter.
