🪴 Planting Instructions

  • When to plant: Late autumn to early winter, once the soil has cooled.
  • Planting depth: Set the bulb’s base at approximately three times its height below the soil surface.
  • Spacing: Allow approximately 10 cm between bulbs.
  • Soil: Fertile, freely draining soil or potting mix.
  • Planting method: Plant pointed end upwards, cover and water in. Choose containers with drainage holes.

💧 Watering

Keep soil moderately moist during active growth. Avoid waterlogging and reduce watering as foliage dies back.

☀️ Light & Position

Choose a bright spot sheltered from strong winds. Light afternoon shade can help protect blooms from warm spring sunshine.

🌿 Feeding

For container-grown bulbs, use a potassium-rich liquid feed during active growth, following the label instructions.

🍃 After Flowering

Remove faded flower heads and allow foliage to die back naturally. Repeat flowering can be unreliable in mild climates, so these tulips are often grown as a seasonal display.

🇲🇹 Local Growing Tips

If bulbs have not already been chilled, refrigerate them in a paper bag for 6–8 weeks before planting. Keep them away from ripening fruit and do not freeze them. Plant promptly afterwards into cool soil.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety

Tulips are toxic to dogs and cats if eaten, particularly the bulbs. Keep plants and loose bulbs out of pets’ reach.
