Description
Light: Requires abundant, bright light. While it enjoys full sun, it is best to provide some protection from the harshest midday sun to prevent scorching, especially in hotter climates.
Watering: Follow a “soak and dry” method—water deeply and then let the soil dry out completely before watering again. Stop watering almost entirely during the winter dormancy period to prevent rot.
Soil: Needs a highly porous, mineral-heavy substrate. A mix of 50/50 cactus soil and inorganic material like perlite, pumice, or grit is ideal.
Temperature: Prefers a cool, dry rest in winter (around 0–10°C). This cool period is often necessary for the plant to set flower buds for the following spring.
