💧 Watering
Water sparingly; allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
In Malta’s climate, natural rainfall is often sufficient outdoors.
Increase light watering only during active growth (autumn–winter).

☀️ Sunlight
Thrives in full sun.
Ideal for open gardens, rock gardens, and exposed coastal areas.
Tolerates light partial shade.

🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering
Produces long green strap-like leaves in autumn–winter, which die back in spring.
Spectacular tall spikes of white to pale pink flowers in late summer–early autumn.
Highly ornamental and drought tolerant once established.

🪴 Potting Mix
Prefers very well-draining soil: sandy or stony Mediterranean soil is ideal.
In pots, use cactus mix with added sand or grit.

🌿 Fertilizer
Generally not required in garden soil.
In pots, feed once in early autumn with a light balanced fertilizer.

🚫🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Highly toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested. All parts contain potent cardiac glycosides.
Keep well away from pets and children.

Perfectly adapted to Malta’s dry summers and mild winters.
Extremely drought resistant and salt-tolerant.
Dies back naturally in summer. This is normal dormancy.
Excellent for dry gardens, slopes, and low-maintenance Mediterranean landscapes.
