Description

Saintpaulia, commonly known as African Violet, is a compact flowering houseplant with soft, velvety leaves and delicate flowers in shades of purple, pink, blue, and white. Ideal for bright indoor spaces, it can flower throughout much of the year with proper care.

💧 Watering

Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry. Use room-temperature water and avoid wetting the leaves to prevent spotting and rot.

☀️ Light

Prefers bright, indirect light. Protect from Malta’s strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate foliage.

🍃 Foliage / Growth

Forms a compact rosette of soft, rounded leaves with clusters of colourful flowers. Remove faded blooms to encourage continued flowering.

🪴 Potting Mix

Use a light, well-draining African Violet potting mix with added perlite. Avoid heavy, waterlogged soil.

🌿 Fertilizer

Feed every 2–4 weeks during active growth with a diluted African Violet fertilizer to encourage healthy foliage and flowering.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety

Non-toxic to cats and dogs. A suitable choice for pet-friendly homes, although excessive chewing may cause mild digestive upset.
