  • Planting depth: Cover the top of each tuber with approximately 5 cm of soil.
  • Spacing: Allow approximately 10 cm between tubers.
  • Soil: Fertile, freely draining soil or potting mix.
  • Planting method: Position the claw-like fingers downwards, cover and water lightly.

💧 Watering

Keep soil lightly moist during growth and flowering. Avoid soggy conditions, particularly before shoots appear.

☀️ Light & Position

Choose a bright, airy spot. Cool conditions suit ranunculus best; protect pots from strong afternoon heat as spring progresses.

🌿 Feeding

For container plants, use a flowering-plant fertilizer during active growth, following the label instructions.

🍃 After Flowering

Remove faded blooms regularly. Let foliage die back naturally, then keep tubers dry during summer dormancy. They may be retained for replanting, although repeat flowering is not guaranteed.

🇲🇹 Local Growing Tips

Autumn planting allows plants to develop through Malta’s cooler months before summer heat arrives. Avoid planting into hot soil or keeping dormant tubers in regularly irrigated beds.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety

Ranunculus is toxic to dogs and cats if eaten. Keep plants and tubers out of pets’ reach.
