Origin: Likely originated in Central and South America.
Heat Level (SHU): Ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 SHU.
Comparison: It can be up to 20 times hotter than a jalapeño.
Appearance: Long, thin, bright red chili peppers, typically 10 to 25 cm long.
Flavor: Spicy with a slightly smoky undertone.
Uses: Commonly dried and ground into a fine powder for use in cooking and medicine. Popular in Cajun and Creole cuisines, as well as traditional Ayurvedic and Eastern medicines.
