☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light. It’s perfect for a Maltese windowsill that doesn’t get hit by the direct afternoon sun. It can handle lower light, but the leaves won’t be as tight and “crinkly.”

💧 Watering
Low to Moderate. This is essentially a “semi-succulent.” Its thick leaves store water, so let the soil dry out almost completely before watering again. Avoid watering the leaves directly; aim for the soil to prevent the stems from rotting.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Very compact and slow-growing, usually staying under 20 cm tall. The leaves are a deep, waxy green with deep ridges, and the white “flower spikes” emerge on tall stems above the foliage.

🪴 Potting Mix
Needs a very loose, well-draining mix. A 50/50 blend of standard potting soil and perlite (or a cactus mix) is perfect. It has a very small root system, so it’s happy in a small pot.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed very lightly. A balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during spring and summer is plenty.

Safe! Like all Peperomias, ‘Lilian’ is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
However, be advised that the consumption of any plant material may cause vomiting and gastrointestinal upset for dogs and cats. Sherries will not be held accountable to any symptom. If you believe that your animal is ill or may have ingested a poisonous substance, please contact a vet immediately.

💡 Simple Tip: “Don’t Over-Pot”
Because ‘Lilian’ has such tiny roots, putting it in a pot that is too big will keep the soil wet for too long, which is the fastest way to kill it. Keep it in a small, snug container, it actually prefers it!
