💧 Watering
Water every 10–14 days in spring and summer, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings.
In winter, water once every 3–4 weeks or keep almost dry.
Avoid water sitting at the base, susceptible to root rot.
☀️ Sunlight
Prefers full sun to very bright light. In Malta, ideal for sunny terraces, balconies, and outdoor pots.
Provide some shade during extreme summer heat to prevent sunburn.
🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering
Small globular cactus with dense, fine white spines.
Produces bright yellow flowers in summer, usually opening during the day.
Very slow-growing; grows compactly, ideal for small pots or rockeries.
🪴 Potting Mix
Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent mix with added sand or perlite.
Ensure pots have excellent drainage.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed once a month in spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer.
No feeding during winter dormancy.

This plant is labeled as non-toxic to cats and dogs by the ASPCA. However, be advised that the consumption of any plant material may cause vomiting and gastrointestinal upset for dogs and cats.
