🪴 Planting Instructions

• When to plant: Autumn, once the weather and soil begin to cool
• Planting depth: Cover the bulbs with soil approximately twice their own height.
• Spacing: Approximately 10–15cm apart
• Soil: Fertile, well-drained soil. For pots, use a free-draining potting mix and a container with drainage holes.
• Planting method: Place bulbs with the pointed ends facing upwards, cover with soil and water if dry. Plant in groups for a fuller display.

💧 Watering

Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth and flowering, without allowing it to become waterlogged. Continue watering as needed after flowering while the leaves remain green. Reduce watering once the foliage yellows and the bulbs become dormant.

Choose a sunny or lightly shaded position. Shelter from strong winds helps protect the full, double flowers, which can become heavy after rain. In Malta, light afternoon shade can help protect blooms from strong spring heat.

🌿 Feeding

Apply a potassium-rich liquid fertilizer after flowering while the foliage remains green, following the product instructions. This helps replenish the bulbs for the following season.

🍃 After Flowering

Remove faded flower heads, leaving the stems and leaves intact. Allow the foliage to yellow naturally before removing it—do not tie or braid the leaves.

Bulbs can remain planted in well-drained soil. Divide crowded clumps when flowering begins to decline.
