💧 Watering
Water every 10–14 days in spring and summer; allow soil to dry out completely between waterings.
In winter, water only once every 3–4 weeks.
Very drought-tolerant, overwatering causes root rot.

☀️ Sunlight
Prefers full sun to very bright light.
In Malta, perfect for sunny balconies, terraces, and outdoor pots.
Can tolerate light shade but develops best colour in strong light.

🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering
Thick, ribbed, blue-green stems with short spines.
Produces small creamy-yellow flowers in summer when mature, followed by edible purple-blue fruits (“bilberries”).
Mainly grown for its sculptural, upright form.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent mix with added sand, pumice, or perlite.
Pots must have excellent drainage.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed once a month during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer.
Do not fertilize in winter.

🚫🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Mildly toxic if ingested and spines can cause injury.
Keep away from pets and children.
