Description

Marginatocereus marginatus f. cristata is a spectacular crested form of the Mexican Fence Post Cactus, prized for its dramatic fan-shaped growth and sculptural appearance. Instead of growing as upright columns, this rare mutation develops intricate folds and undulating crests that become increasingly impressive with age, making each plant a unique living work of art.

Its distinctive blue-green stems and architectural form make it an outstanding centrepiece for any cactus collection or contemporary plant display. Slow growing, drought tolerant and easy to care for, it is a favourite among both collectors and beginners.

Pet Safety: 🐾 Use Caution Around Pets
Marginatocereus marginatus is not considered toxic to cats or dogs. However, its spines may cause injury if handled or chewed. Keep out of reach of curious pets and young children.

Good to Know
The crested form develops through a natural mutation known as fasciation, where the growing point expands into a fan-shaped crest instead of forming a single column. This creates the spectacular rippling growth patterns that make crested cacti so highly prized by collectors. Because every crest develops differently, no two plants are ever exactly alike.
