Description

💧 Watering
Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again. This plant is highly drought-tolerant and hates excess moisture. Overwatering or soggy soil in winter will quickly cause root rot.

☀️ Light
It demands full, direct sunlight for at least six hours a day. Intense sun is necessary to bring out its potent fragrance and vibrant flower colors. It handles the baking Maltese summer heat with ease.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It forms a compact, bushy mound of narrow, needle-like silvery leaves. Trim the plant lightly after the summer flowering season to maintain its shape. Avoid cutting into old, woody stems as they will not grow back.

🪴 Potting Mix
It requires poor, gritty, and sharply draining soil. Mix standard potting soil with plenty of coarse sand, perlite, or gravel. It loves alkaline conditions, making it perfectly suited for Malta’s natural limestone soils.

🌿 Fertilizer
Do not use heavy fertilizers. Lavender thrives in nutrient-poor environments, and too much food will ruin its aroma and cause floppy growth. A very light top-dressing of compost in spring is more than enough.

⚠️🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Toxic to pets in large quantities. Lavender contains linalool, which can cause mild nausea or vomiting if dogs or cats ingest a significant amount of the foliage.

🌬️ Air Purifying
The intense, soothing fragrance is famous for reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Place it near seating areas or bedroom windows where the gentle breeze can carry its calming scent indoors.
