💧 Watering
Keep the soil lightly moist during active growth and flowering, without allowing it to become waterlogged. Continue watering as needed while the leaves remain green. Reduce watering as the foliage yellows, keeping dormant bulbs relatively dry during summer.
☀️ Light & Position
Choose a sunny position with excellent drainage. Place pots where you can enjoy the small flowers up close, while protecting them from excessive winter rain.
🌿 Feeding
Apply a potassium-rich liquid fertilizer after flowering while the foliage remains green, following the product instructions. Stop feeding as the leaves begin to yellow.
🍃 After Flowering
Allow the leaves to continue growing after the flowers fade—they may become noticeably taller. Leave them until they have completely yellowed and dried before removing them.
Bulbs can remain planted in suitable conditions, although repeat flowering is less reliable where drainage is poor. Small offsets may take several seasons to reach flowering size.
🇲🇹 Local Growing Tips
Plant during cooler autumn weather and avoid areas that receive frequent summer irrigation. Pots are useful where garden soil holds too much winter rain.
Flowering and return performance may vary in Malta’s mild winters. Check the supplier’s instructions for any specific cooling requirements.
🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Keep plants and bulbs away from pets that chew plants or dig in the soil. Wear gloves when handling.
