Description
💧 Watering
Water moderately while the plant is actively growing and flowering (about once a week).
Keep soil slightly moist but never soggy.
After flowering, reduce watering gradually as the leaves yellow and the bulb enters dormancy.
During dormancy (late summer–autumn), keep almost dry.
☀️ Sunlight
Prefers bright, indirect light indoors or morning sun outdoors.
In Malta, protect from strong midday and afternoon sun to avoid leaf scorch.
Ideal for bright windowsills, verandas, or sheltered terraces.
🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering
Grows long, strap-like leaves and large, showy flowers on tall stalks.
Blooms typically in late winter to spring (or again in autumn if conditions are right).
Flowers come in red, pink, white, or striped varieties.
🪴 Potting Mix
Well-draining bulb mix (equal parts compost, sand, and perlite).
Keep the top third of the bulb exposed above the soil.
Ensure pot has good drainage holes.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed every 2–3 weeks with a high-potassium fertilizer while in growth and bloom.
Stop feeding once leaves begin to yellow and dormancy starts.
🚫🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Toxic to cats and dogs (bulbs contain lycorine, causing vomiting, drooling, and lethargy).
🌬️ Air Purifying ✅
