Description

Add dramatic height and a explosion of color to your garden with our Mixed Gladiolus Pack. Known as “Sword Lilies” for their striking, pointed leaves, these summer favorites produce tall, majestic flower spikes adorned with trumpet-shaped blooms. This vibrant mix includes a spectrum of colors—from fiery reds and deep purples to sunny yellows, soft pinks, and crisp whites—guaranteeing a spectacular show in any setting.

Key Features for Malta:

Summer Sun Specialist: Gladioli love the Maltese sun. They are robust and thrive in warm, bright conditions.

Vertical Accent: Reaching a height of 40–60 cm (perfect for mid-sized displays), they provide architectural structure to flower borders and large planters.

Continuous Color: These bulbs bloom throughout July and August, filling the summer “gap” when other spring flowers have faded.

The Ultimate Cut Flower: One of the most popular flowers for bouquets. Cut the spikes when the lowest buds start to show color, and they will open gradually in a vase for over a week.

Expert Planting Tips for our Customers:

Succession Planting: To have flowers all summer long, plant a handful of bulbs every 2 weeks from March until May.

Planting Depth: Plant corms about 10 cm deep in well-drained soil. In Malta, deeper planting helps keep the roots cool and provides better support for the tall stems.

Watering: Water regularly during the growing season, especially when the flower spikes begin to appear. Avoid getting water on the blooms.

Support: In windy areas of Malta, it’s a good idea to stake the taller stems or plant them in clusters so they can support each other.

After-Bloom Care: Once the flowers have faded, cut the spike off but leave the green leaves. This allows the bulb to store energy for next year’s growth.

Position: Full Sun.

Hardiness: Perennial (Can be left in the ground in Malta’s mild winters).

Soil: Prefers rich, well-drained soil; hates “wet feet” (waterlogging).
