💧 Watering
Water thoroughly only when the top half of the potting mix has completely dried out. The thick, leathery leaves store moisture well, making this plant highly sensitive to overwatering. Drop a finger or use a moisture meter deep into the soil to check; if it’s still damp, wait. In winter, reduce watering significantly as the plant’s metabolism slows down.

☀️ Light
It requires bright, indirect sunlight to maintain its gorgeous pink and cream variegation. If kept in too dark a spot, the new leaves will lose their pink tones and turn a dull, solid green. However, avoid placing it in harsh, unfiltered mid-summer afternoon sun, which can permanently scorch the creamy, sensitive parts of the foliage.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It grows in a strong, upright columnar habit and can easily reach ceiling heights indoors over time. A beautiful characteristic of the ‘Belize’ is that its new leaves emerge from bright red, sheath-like spikes before unfurling. Crucial tip: The large leaves are absolute dust magnets. Wipe them down monthly with a soft, damp cloth to keep the pores clean and maximize photosynthesis.

🪴 Potting Mix
Thrives in a well-draining, aerated soil medium. Use a high-quality indoor potting mix amended with a generous amount of perlite and orchid bark to ensure water flows through freely and doesn’t suffocatingly pack around the roots.

🌿 Fertilizer
During the active spring and summer growing season, the ‘Belize’ is a relatively fast grower. Feed it once a month with a balanced liquid indoor plant fertilizer diluted to half-strength. Do not fertilize at all during the autumn and winter months.

⚠️🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Toxic to pets. Like all members of the Ficus family, the stems and leaves contain a thick, milky white sap (latex) that is toxic to dogs and cats. If ingested, it causes oral irritation, drooling, and vomiting. Skin or eye contact with the sap can also cause mild topical inflammation.

🌬️ Air Purifying
An absolute powerhouse when it comes to indoor air filtration. Its broad, thick leaves are incredibly efficient at absorbing common airborne household toxins (such as formaldehyde) and converting them into clean oxygen, making it a fantastic addition to living rooms and home offices.
