Description
💧 Watering
Water every 10–14 days in spring and summer, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings.
In winter, reduce to once every 3–4 weeks.
Extremely drought-tolerant; overwatering is the main cause of failure.
☀️ Sunlight
Prefers full sun to very bright light.
In Malta, ideal for sunny terraces, balconies, or bright indoor positions.
Can tolerate partial shade, but growth will be slower.
🍃 Foliage / Growth
Upright, tree-form succulent with thick green ribbed stems.
Can reach 2–4 m in large containers and much taller in the ground.
Produces tiny yellow flowers at stem tips in warm seasons (not very showy).
🪴 Potting Mix
Use a fast-draining cactus/succulent mix with added sand or pumice.
Always use pots with excellent drainage holes.
🌿 Fertilizer
Feed once a month during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertilizer.
Do not fertilize in winter.
🚫🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Highly toxic to cats, dogs, and humans if ingested.
Milky sap is very irritating to skin and eyes — handle with gloves.
Keep well out of reach of pets and children.
🌬️ Air Purifying ✅
Provides moderate air-purifying benefits and improves indoor air quality in bright spaces.
🌿 Additional Notes
Perfectly suited to Malta’s hot, dry summers.
Very sensitive to cold, protect if temperatures fall below 10–12°C.
Rotate pot for even growth.
Excellent as a statement plant in modern interiors, patios, and coastal gardens.
