Description

☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light. Place it near a window but away from direct sun, which will bleach the beautiful patterns. If the room is too dark, the leaves will lose their vibrant colors and turn solid green.

💧 Watering
Moderate. Water when the top 2-3cm of soil is dry. It likes humidity, so in a dry Maltese home (especially with AC), it appreciates being grouped with other plants or placed on a tray of wet pebbles.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It grows upright on a thick, cane-like stem. The ‘Reeva’ variety stays relatively compact compared to its giant cousins, making it perfect for a corner of a living room or an office.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a well-draining, aerated mix. A standard indoor potting soil with a bit of perlite is ideal. It hates “wet feet,” so ensure the pot has good drainage.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid indoor fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Do not fertilize in winter when growth slows down.

❌🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Highly Toxic. Also known as “Dumb Cane,” the sap contains calcium oxalate crystals. If chewed, it causes intense mouth irritation and swelling. Keep it well out of reach of pets and children.
