Crassula ovata ‘Hobbit’ (commonly known as Hobbit Jade Plant) is a compact, quirky variety of the classic jade plant, with tube-shaped glossy leaves that curl inward at the tips. It’s an easy-care, drought-tolerant succulent.

Description

💧 Watering
Water every 10–14 days in warm months; allow soil to dry completely between waterings.
In winter, water only once every 3–4 weeks.
Avoid overwatering, root rot is the main risk.

☀️ Sunlight
Prefers full sun to bright light.
In Malta, ideal for balconies, terraces, or sunny windowsills.
Can tolerate partial shade but develops best color in bright light.

🍃 Foliage / 🌸 Flowering
Compact, branching succulent with thick, tubular green leaves that sometimes show red tips in bright sun.
Produces clusters of small white or pink star-shaped flowers in winter under good light.
Grown mainly for its unique, sculptural foliage.

🪴 Potting Mix
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
A blend of soil, perlite, and sand prevents water retention.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed once a month during spring–summer with a succulent or cactus fertilizer diluted to half strength. Do not fertilize in winter.

Mildly toxic to cats and dogs if ingested — may cause vomiting.
Keep out of reach of pets that chew on plants.
