💧 Watering
Water thoroughly when the top few centimeters of the potting mix feel dry. This princess loves consistent moisture, but its chunky underground rhizome will quickly rot if left in stagnant water. Ensure water drains freely from the pot. Cut back on watering significantly during the cooler winter months when growth naturally rests.

☀️ Light
Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. It needs plenty of light to maintain its sturdy stems and rich coloration, but harsh, direct afternoon sun will quickly bleach and burn the beautiful glossy foliage. A spot near a bright east- or sheltered south-facing window is ideal.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It features gigantic, leathery, puckered leaves that emerge a rich green and develop deep, chocolatey-purple undersides as they mature. The plant grows in an upright, structural habit and can easily reach 1.5 to 2 meters in height indoors. It is completely normal for an older, lower leaf to turn yellow and die off as a massive new one unfurls from the center.

🪴 Potting Mix
An absolute chunky, fast-draining mix is non-negotiable. Use a high-quality indoor potting soil heavily amended with plenty of perlite, orchid bark, and pumice or charcoal. This allows its thick roots to breathe easily while retaining just enough ambient moisture.

🌿 Fertilizer
Alocasias are incredibly heavy feeders when they are actively pushing out new growth. Feed every two weeks during the spring and summer with a balanced liquid indoor plant fertilizer diluted to half strength. Flush the soil with plain water occasionally to prevent salt buildup.

⚠️🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Highly toxic to pets. Like all aroids, the entire plant contains sharp insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. If chewed or swallowed by dogs or cats, it causes severe mouth irritation, swelling of the tongue and throat, intense drooling, and respiratory difficulty. Keep it safely elevated or in pet-free zones.

Thanks to the massive surface area of its grand leaves, it functions as an exceptional natural humidifier and air purifier. It transpires moisture back into dry, air-conditioned rooms and effectively absorbs common household airborne particles.
