🗓️ When to Plant
Late February – May for a spring/summer harvest.
September – early November for an autumn/winter crop.
☀️ Location & Sun
Needs at least 6 hours of sunlight daily.
In July & August, provide light afternoon shade to prevent bolting (flowering too early).
🌿 Soil & Potting
Use well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost.
In pots: choose a deep container (25–30 cm) with drainage holes.
A good-quality potting mix ensures strong bulb growth.
💧 Watering
Keep soil consistently moist, not soggy.
Water every 2–3 days, or daily in very hot weather.
Check the top inch of soil—if dry, water.
Avoid watering foliage during midday sun.
✂️ Care & Harvest
Feed with a balanced fertiliser every 2–3 weeks.
Remove weeds and loosen soil gently around the base.
When bulbs start forming, mound soil around them to keep them white and tender.
Harvest: When bulbs reach 7–10 cm and feel firm. Cut just above the roots.
Fronds can be trimmed anytime for use as a garnish.
