Keeping Dogs Cool in Summer

How to Keep Dogs Cool in Summer

Keeping your dogs cool in hot weather is vital to keep your dog healthy, happy, and reduce the risk of your dog suffering from heatstroke. To help you stay on top of things, we’ve put together a list of our favorite Summer products, so you can enjoy the sun in safety with your best friend.

Hydration is Key

Make sure your dog has access to clean water at all times, ideally a large bowl filled to the brim. Always carry water and a bowl with you on walks. Hydration is the number one priority to keeping dogs cool.

Our Top Pick: The Beeztees Fresco Bowl

Nothing is better than cold water on a hot summer day. The same goes for your four-legged friend. The Beeztees Fresco has a built-in cooling element to makes sure that water stays cold and fresh much longer. It can also be used for food to help keep it cool and fresh!

Exercising in the Summer

Walking

When walking your dog it’s always best to avoid doing so in Sunlight, especially in Malta. Either first thing in the morning before it gets hot or later in the evening when it starts to cool down. Dogs’ paw pads can burn on hot pavements. As a general rule, if it’s too hot for your hand it’s too hot for their paws.

Our Top Pick: The Beeztees Quick Cooler Dog Collar

This Collar is specially designed to keep dogs cool on a warm summer day. This collar is namely filled with cooling crystals, which provide cooling for a few days. Moreover, the Quick Cooler collar is easy to use! How to use: Soaking it in cool tap water for 20 to 35 minutes while gently kneading the Quick Cooler every now and then can activate the product. Be sure to take the Quick Cooler out of the water when it has expanded to a maximum of half of its original size and the Quick Cooler is ready for use!

Swimming

Swimming is excellent exercise for dogs and a great exercise alternative to walking in the summer heat. Remember, drinking salt water is likely to make your dog sick and isn’t very good for them. Bring fresh water with you to the beach for your furry friend. Wash salt and sand off your dog’s coat after swimming to prevent it drying and irritating their skin. It’s important to keep an eye on your dog and have them wear a life jacket at all times.

Our Top Pick: Dog Safety / Swim Jacket

Your dog will be safe in the water with the Beeztees safety and life jacket. It is very easy to put on your dog, thanks to the quick-snap buckle. The vest has a sturdy handle on the back so that you can hold the dog securely when necessary. How to deal with a heatstroke

If you think your dog has heatstroke, you need to act fast. Take them to a cool, shaded area. Apply towels soaked in cold water to their head, neck and chest and let them drink water or lick an ice cube. Never place them directly into ice cold water or give them too much to drink as they may go into shock.

Make sure you contact a vet immediately if you suspect your dog has heatstroke.
