Description

☀️ Light
Full Shade. This is one of the few plants that hates the sun. Direct Maltese sunlight will scorch the leaves, leaving permanent yellow or white scars. It thrives in bright, indirect light.

💧 Watering
Low to Moderate. In spring and summer, water when the top half of the soil is dry. In winter, barely water at all—it needs a dry rest period to trigger flowers.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It has thick, dark green, strap-like leaves that grow in a beautiful “fan” shape. The flowers are typically bright orange with yellow centers, sitting on a tall, sturdy stalk.

🪴 Potting Mix
They love being root-bound. Use a heavy, well-draining potting mix. Don’t rush to move it to a bigger pot; Clivias actually bloom better when their roots are a bit cramped.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month from spring through autumn. Stop feeding entirely during the winter months.

❌🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Toxic. Contains lycorine, which can cause stomach upset or more serious issues if eaten in large amounts by pets.
