☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light. It loves a well-lit room but will scorch if placed in the direct, midday Maltese sun. It is remarkably tolerant of lower light, though it will grow slower and stay less “bushy.”

💧 Watering
Low to Moderate. This is essentially a succulent. Its thick, rubbery leaves store a lot of water.
The Rule: Let the soil dry out almost completely before watering.
The Danger: Overwatering is the #1 killer. If the stems feel mushy at the base, it’s getting too much water. In winter, you might only water it once every 3 weeks.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
It has very shiny, upright, spoon-shaped leaves. It stays fairly compact (usually under 30–40 cm) and has a sturdy, self-supporting stem. There are also variegated versions with beautiful cream and lime splashes.

🪴 Potting Mix
Excellent drainage is mandatory. A mix of standard potting soil and plenty of perlite or a specific “Cactus and Succulent” mix is perfect. It has a small root system, so it doesn’t need a massive pot.

🌿 Fertilizer
Feed very lightly. Use a balanced liquid fertilizer at half-strength once a month during spring and summer only.

Safe! Like almost all Peperomias, the ‘USA’ is non-toxic to cats and dogs.
However, be advised that the consumption of any plant material may cause vomiting and gastrointestinal upset for dogs and cats. Sherries will not be held accountable to any symptom. If you believe that your animal is ill or may have ingested a poisonous substance, please contact a vet immediately.
