💧 Watering
Extremely drought-tolerant once established. In fact, the quickest way to kill a Teucrium is by overwatering. In pots, let the soil dry out almost completely before watering. During the Maltese winter, it barely needs any supplemental water at all.

☀️ Light
It demands full sun. The more sun it receives, the more intense the silver color of the leaves and the more vibrant the blue flowers will be. It handles the most exposed, sun-drenched spots in Malta with ease, including windy coastal terraces.

🍃 Foliage / Growth
Features small, aromatic, silvery-gray leaves with white, woolly undersides. It has a naturally bushy habit and is incredibly responsive to pruning. It can be kept as a tight, formal silver ball, a low hedge, or allowed to grow into a more informal, airy shrub.

🪴 Potting Mix
Requires a very well-draining, gritty mix. It loves the alkaline, limestone-rich soils of Malta. If potting, mix in plenty of perlite, sand, or local stone chippings to ensure the roots never sit in moisture.

🌿 Fertilizer
Generally requires very little to no fertilizer. A light application of a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring is sufficient. Too much nitrogen will cause the plant to grow too fast and lose its compact, silvery charm.

🐕🐈 Pet Safety
Teucrium is generally considered non-toxic to dogs and cats. Its slightly aromatic, tough leaves are usually ignored by pets, making it a safe addition to a pet-friendly garden.

🌬️ Air Purifying
Its fine, “hairy” silver leaves are excellent at reflecting heat and trapping dust and salt particles from the air. It’s a hardy oxygen producer that helps keep outdoor living spaces feeling fresh and cool.
