Pimenta da Neyde Pepper (Neyde Nero)
Origin: Discovered in Brazil by Neyde Hidalgo.
Heat Level (SHU): Ranges from 100,000 to 250,000 SHU.
Comparison: It can be up to 100 times hotter than a jalapeño.
Appearance: Small, bullet-shaped peppers, about 2 to 3 inches long. They have a deep purple, almost black color that remains consistent even when ripe.
Flavor: Fruity, sweet, with slightly bitter and floral notes.
Uses: Commonly used in hot sauces, salsas, and as an ornamental plant due to its striking appearance. Adds vibrant color and heat to various dishes.
Interesting Fact: Rich in vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and capsaicin. The Pimenta da Neyde is a natural hybrid between Capsicum annuum and Capsicum chinense, combining characteristics of both species.
