Description

Bamboo is the common name used to designate about 20 genera of plants belonging to the Poaceae family. The most important of these genera are: Arundinaria, Bambusa, Dendrocalamus, Fargesia, Phyllostachys, Pleioblastus, Pseudosasa and Sasa. All species produce lignified culms divided into articles, called reeds.

In the countries of origin the cultivation of bamboo dates back to the most ancient times; they were used and used not only for ornamental purposes, but for the manufacture of containers, furniture, boats, houses; young shoots of many varieties are edible. In the West, the spread of Bamboos is a fairly recent phenomenon, which, however, has experienced spectacular increases in recent years. They like the vivid greens of their light leaf masses, the polychromism of their stems, the fine texture of their branches, the elegance and harmony of their shapes, the touch of exoticism they bring.

In gardens and parks they are used for groups, groves, hedges, near or along waterways.
